Science Observatory (Birla Planetarium)

Hi everyone, we are from Grp5 .
It’s was like our Singapore science centre. the place was quite serene place. We went inside an omnimax theatre.it was very different compared to singapore’s omnimax. We also watch a 3D movie.for that movie we had to wear a 3D glass. It was quite fragile and we had to return the glasses back to them. The 3D effect was stunning. the graphics made the 3D realistic. some of the girls shouted at one part of the movie. Overall, the place was quite nice.

Kollywood Film Studio
The film studio was very creatively designed. It has several components , such as the fake central jail, temple. It also had several special lightings and musics to make the act or the drama look real. When we watch television the movie’s duration is about two to three hours, however it takes a lot of effort and time. The movie is taken shot by shot and so it takes very long…the crew members are very hardworking and focused on the shots even though we were there looking at them at work. I found the experience at the kollywood studio fun and exciting as we got to look at them making the movie, I wish to go there again!

Hotel comparison
The first hotel we resided in was ambica empire hotel. It had the grandest greeting, they honored us with jasmine garlands served us drinks. We then proceeded to our hotel rooms. I was sharing my room with Nisha and kassandra. The hotel room was very nice and the toiletries we refilled everyday. As it only had two beds they even brought in another bed. We however refused the bed. Their service in taking the bed away was unsatisfactory. That however did not spoil our excitement as we had fun visiting our friends the in the other rooms and comparing. The hotel we stayed in, in kodaikanal was J.C Residency. Kodaikanal was a very, very, very cold place. We huddled up while sleeping. This hotel had a cottage system. As we did not want to walk in the cold we did not visit our friends rooms. But we did visit those who were in the same cottage. The cottages had nice names we stayed in fern cottage. Moreover the restaurant was called pine & petals. The last hotel we stayed in, in madurai was pandian hotel. As its our first day we have not had time to ourselves and thus no time to enjoy the fantastic rooms. As finally it seems to us we have the better room. I really believe that this night will be restful as we had trouble sleeping in the cold. We feel it’s a good way for a last night to be spent. In pandian hotel we also had an extra bed. Their service in removing the bed however was fast and satisfactory. We had a truly restful sleep and the fun was soon over when we had to check out and leave

Panchayat union middle school
Altogether, we’ve went to three schools. The last and most inspiring school yet was west union panchayat school. Mr anbu had already briefed us on the condition of the school and the general family background of most children there. They are extremely friendly and naturally cheerful. They took a lot of effort to make us feel at home. They had performances and we also sat in their classes. The most impactful time there was when the students were served food. As the food was being put on the plate, you could actually see the happiness and the actual glow on the face. After seeing this, I felt satisfied and contented. A certain sense of warmth had calmed my very sad heart. They also sang during the class and performance. While at SBOA, the students there were forced to sing but here, at this school, students are passionate about singing and actually have the talent too. When asked questions about the subject they are studying by the teacher, they are confident speakers and most of the time they get the ans right too. This shows that they have a large amount of potential in public speaking. Another touching scene there was after they got their food. they had gotten a meal which consisted of biryani rice, curd rice, vegetable and curry and this was a meal that was a once in a lifetime chance. Although they had the choice of just sitting there and enjoying the food, they got up, came over to us and said “talk to us please”. And this showed that even though they had really good food, they wanted to spend time with us, and we’re not even related to them. It was truly out of affection, and it was obvious. Even our own siblings don’t call us big sis\ bro, they call us by name. but these children, they are seeing us for the first time yet they are so affectionate. Its hard not to fall in love with them. If possible, not only me, but all of us would want to go back there to help. It was truly inspirational. Its really hard to put this touching experience in words because you have to be there to experience the impact.

EErie... Kodaikannal!!!

Hi folks,
From hot chennai.. now all of you are in Kodaikkannl.. if I am not wrong.. Totally different climate and landscape.. If there is no heavy rains in kodaikannl, you guys would surely enjoy the days there to the fullest.

ok... Kodaikannl is not a new place to you all.. as most of the Kollywood movies capture the places and scenery there.. Many will say that.. Kodaikaanal is rich in flora and fauna.. It has thickly wooded slopes, well laid out walking paths through picturesque locations, tumultuous waterfalls and steep rock outcrops. Apart from being a much sought after tourist resort, Kodai is also famous for its educational institutions which are globally renowned... BUT... Pls.. wait... there is something more interesting, exciting about this place ...in fact eerie about KODAIKANNAL..You may ask... WAT?... let me tell you.

There is a '' well -known'' place in kodai itself. It is known as the SUICIDE POINT.. Formerly it was known as Green Valley View.. but now its name has been changed after the suicides in recent years. It is about 5.5 km from the lake and very near to Golf club. It commands a beautiful view of the entire Vaigai Dam. As the valley is very deep and dangerous, this place is called "Suicide Point".

I am very sure.that this place is out of bounds to you ppl.. People who have accidently slipped into the valley.. barely have chance to survive.. For many years.. those tourists taking photos at that particular places.. have gone through weird experiences and strange photos too! The place is haunted.....hooooo.

Furthermore, the workers who are in charge of collecting the corpose from the forests which is near the valley.. suffer alot... Their personal experiences are so challenging and eerie..It was recently featured in Vijay Tv.. So locals avoid going to that area.. even though it is such a wonderful place.

Ok folks... i know that the halloween season is over... But just to create more anxiety ... i shared this info with you all.

And I am very sure that Kodai will give u guys and teachers the much needed relaxation and rejuvenation break after your stressful sch days. Wat else to come.!!!!!!!!!!.... beautiful sights to cool your eyes, cool breezes carrying the soothing fragrance of blooms and eucalyptus trees, and cool fabulous weather to freeze time and sumptuous food.

Truly Mother Nature will be at her very best, You folks will feel like breathing in a year’s supply of fresh oxygen to last us till next holiday !!!

Anyway Enjoy the days!!!!

Kollywood studio!!!!!!

Hey guys & gals,

Today is your 4th day in chennai.. till now you have gotten wonderful experiences travelling in and out of Chennai city.. Over crowded buses, motorists racing, yellow autos squeezng their way in and out of parked vehicles, unexpected rain are some of things that you are surprised to see...

But the most exciting thing you all gonna see today is kollywood movie studio. I am not sure which studio you all would be going. There are couple of studios where the money making brains work! If you are lucky enough, you may get to see ur drama artistes, directors, or movie stars!!! Inside a movie studio, editing, re recording music houses and drama sets are built. So from singers to stars... you can see them rushing from one buiding to another building in a studio itself..

If you got to see any foreign imported cars sailing into the studio.. u got the lucky charm.. that means some star is arriving into the studio. Some places inside the studio may look familiar to you because you might have seen them in songs or stunt sequences in movies.

Anyone aspire to be a film maker or want to own a production house.. this is your golden opportunity, Normally local people are not allowed into all premises except the tourists and the ppl working there.

So, get ready your autograph books... like what Mr Anbu said in meetings... No taking off shirts in excitement !!!!!!!!!!! ok... enjoy kids...

bye

Day 3 Photos

Some Day 3 photos: School visit at SBOA... you may read our students' post on their take about the school visit...i must say that i was extremely amazed by the various talents of the students.

3day

Helloo today is the 3rd day of our india trip. Today we had our first school vist to SBOA higher secondary school. We had a talk by the principle. then we proceeded to sit in their tamil class. It was a real diffrent experience, and I admit i was unable to understand half of what the teacher said. There was a lot of diffrence in the way the lesson was conducted. One obvious comparison was that we used more technology in our classroom then us. After that we were treated to a dance and song performance by the students. From interaction with them I learned that they were told to dance impromptu. That shocked me as I know for sure our students would complain and refuse to perform. So after the tiring day i'm in the comfort of my bed typing this.
