Trip to kodaikanal

After having a wonderful time in Chennai, we headed to Madurai through internal flight. Once we reached Madurai, we had our dinner at a well known restaurant, Murugan Idli shop. We were very tired and decided to sleep after our dinner during our trip to Kodaikanal. When the bus was travelling up the hill in a spiral manner, a huge rock hit the bus it created a dent at the side of the bus due to the heavy rain. Despite the challenge the driver managed to move on with the journey. Fortunately, no one was hurt and we had a safe journey to the hotel
The atmosphere was very chilly that whenever we breathe out we saw water vapour coming out from our mouth. The scenery was magnificent. Some of the famous spots there were Silent Valley, Sucidial point,Pillar rocks, waterfall. We were mesmerized by the beauty of kodaikanal!!! Overall we enjoyed the stay at kodaikanal!!

Ethnic clothes

Hi folks,
as we all know that clothes play the prominent role in human civilisation and indian culture gives special preferance to clothes to be worn on festive seasons and ausipicious occasions. eg. weddings etc. Even though we are transforming into a more western- centric society , we still keep in contact with ethnic clothings on special occasions. yes!!!!!

Traditional Indian clothing has come into prominence once again!! Well, if you notice the trends in fashion industry, you'll realize that modern fashion has aped the styling and designing of the bygone eras, the period of royalty, when Maharajas and Ranis used to spend extravagantly on their clothing. Whatever the royals chose to go in for was reminiscent of splendor and luxury. The creative fashion designers of today are in a lookout for ethnic designs that take us close to our cultural roots and remind us of the glorious past. Well, lets see the different kinds of traditional clothing in India,
Dhothi is the traditional Indian clothing of men. Unlike other dresses, it is an unstitched piece of cloth usually 5 yards long that is tied around the waist and legs. The knot is tied at the waist. Dhoti is known by different names at different places such as Laacha in Punjabi, dhuti in Bangla.

Kurtha is a term used to refer to a long loose shirt, the length of which falls below or may be just above the knees of the wearer. In the olden times, it was primarily worn by men, but today, it has become a unisex dress that both men and women can wear.

Salwar kameez ( Punjabi suit) is the traditional Indian clothing for women. Due to its high popularity in the region of Punjab, shalwar kameez is commonly referred to as Punjabi suit. The fashion of Shalwar Kameez in India is not new. Since the past many few centuries, women have been wearing this wonderful attire. Our south indians love to wear punjabi suits due to its comfort level.

Sari is one of the most wonderful dresses worn by Indian women. Infact, when one thinks of a typical Indian woman, the first thing that strikes the mind is a woman clad in sari, who is wearing the solah shringar including bindi, chudi, kajal etc.

Sherwani is a long coat resembling achkan in styling. It is buttoned upto the collar and lengthwise it is usually below the knee. It adds to the charm and grace of men, especially the taller ones. Indian men spend lavishly on buying the sherwani suit for the special occasion of their wedding.

In NorthernIndia, one can spot many men wearing turban. Well, turban is tied not for the sake of fashion, but because it has a lot of significance in the lives of Indians. The hair turban is a headdress that basically consists of a long piece of unstitched cloth, which is wrapped around the head. North indians follow this custom strictly.

folks...especially our non- indian friends.. i hope you have gotten more information about indian clothes for both genders. If you wanna look at those colourful clothes, do come down to Little india shops . I bet you will have a wonderful time out there.

see you .. take care.

Do you know about Southern Cuisine?

Hi folks... everyone of us know that food is a prominent feature in all cultures. Of course , Indian culture also gives alot of importance to food. For our Non- indian friends,i just briefly tell about our authentic Southern cuisine! Firstly India has two divides namely South India and North India. Our folks has just visited a few prominent and well known places in South India( TAMILNADU).

ok... mainly the southern cuisine has its staples in the dosai, vadai, idli, saambhaar and uttapam and etc for the breakfast. The great difference between North Indian and South Indian food springs from the use of certain basic ingredients that are particular to each of them. The Northern part od India relies heavily on the use of the wheat grain and milk (these have always been found in abundance in the great Northern plains of the Yamuna and Ganga, fertile enough to support double crops of both wheat, rice and even maize and millet).

On the other hand, Southern cuisine shows a marked preference for rice, which has always been abundant in the Southern belt. Coconut and tamarind are the other important ingredients and form the backbone of the Southern culinary tradition. Most of the dishes are prepared in coconut oil and grated coconut finds its way into most dishes, be they salty or sweet.

Most South Indians relish clarified butter (especially with rice), butter milk and curd too. In fact, no meal is considered complete without a course of rice with butter milk, pappadam (called papad in the north) and rasam. This is usually known as '' full meals'' in layman's term. South Indian food is relatively spicier than North Indian food though Rajasthani cuisine seconds none when it comes to a fondness for red chillies.

Spices that add to the uniqueness of South Indian cuisine and that are used ritually are asafoetida, tamarind, mustard seeds, and red chillies.
Coming to the breakfast items, our king is dosai and our kids and teachers had good restaurants that serves the right stuff . Here is what the dosai is all about:The regular dosai is made from a heady mixture of parboiled rice flour and ground urad dal that has been fermented overnight. . Across Tamil Nadu and other states like Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the dosai comes in different styles, but is most often served with sambhaar and chutney ( liquid form):

Plain dosai: This is the regular one without any fillings, served with sambhaar and chutneys (coconut, tomato-garlic, and coconut-mint) of various kinds. If you go to Little India, you can feast on it!

Masaala dosai: This one is the healthier and lighter counterpart of the North Indian aaloo ka paraantha and is stuffed with a lightly spiced, mashed potato mixture. ( my personal fav).. hhah anyone can give me a treat too!

Rawa and Rawa-masaala dosai: These two are very similar to the two mentioned already, excepting the fact that they use rawa (semolina) instead of rice flour, making them even easier to digest, besides giving them a delectable crispness.

Mysore Butter Rawa-masaala dosai: This is an absolute treat and just right for the gourmet. Very rich and buttery, this dosai is a must have for every foodie worth his salt.
The list above is obviously not exhaustive and there are other variants of this grand Southern roll, depending on the kind of filling and proportions of the batter used. Alternative fillings (gunpowder chutney, cottage cheese, mushrooms, even keema or mince-meat for instance) can increase the range considerably and target foodies from across the spectrum.

Vadai (plain, masaala and medu) is a healthier alternative to the deep fried pakodas ( type of snack) and are served with steaming hot sambhaar and/or chutney.

Idlis are a big hit with people in the India just as the dosai and the vadai are. These fermented rice cakes are steamed rather than baked or fried and make a very healthy breakfast. Idli-sambhaar is definitely a tasty and healthier breakfast . Kids.. i heard that most of the guys enjoyed a heavy meal at MURAGAN IDLY SHOP which has a branch in Singapore too.

Likewise, Utappam (pancake) comes in three wholesome variants – onion, tomato and vegetable. .

Tomato rice and lemon rice are finger licking Southern rice dishes packed with nutrition and taste.

Sambhaar is a pulse-based, spicy vegetable curry with a dash of tamarind. Other variants include the simple but yummy onion sambhaar.

Avial is a semi-dry, mixed vegetable dish served with rice, sambhaar and papaddams, making an ideal combination that will never be too filling, even though one is bound to indulge oneself on it. .

Rasam and butter milk serve as wonderful appetizers. The former is a very spicy and tempting pulse and tomato based soup that I prefer to regular tomato soup for its taste and punch. Buttermilk is really soothing in hot summers ( April to July)

South India's non-vegetarian cuisine – though it does not meet the challenge offered by the grandiose mughlai tradition - impresses with its wide ranging array of sea-food.

ok... folks..I. hope that our Non-indian friends now know more about South Indian food and taste.. Anyone who is hungry for hot, spicy food. do join me in Little india restaurant!!

take care

Our Journey to Madurai through domestic flight

Our boys helping to carry all the luggage.

waiting to check in...

On Day 4 we took jet airways (domestic flight) to reach Madurai in 45 minutes which would otherwise had been a 14 hour ride by coach...hehe...so it was fun taking the flight again...

Kanjipuram (Day 4)

Day 4, we went to Kanchipuram to have a look at their well known occupation, saree making. We learned several interesting facts about the occupation and we were amazed too. It takes a person 15 days to make a saree! They will only make 3 sarees in the same design, 2 sarees for other countries and 1 for their own shop. More than half of the total population of Kanchipuram is involved in doing this occupation. Even though the world is technologically advanced these days, they still do not use machines because they want to uphold the tradition. Children’s above 12 years old work in the morning and go for extra lessons in the night. We also went to a shop to buy saree’s and we noticed that the shopkeepers do not get frustrated; compared to Singapore!

Kollywood Film Studio

The film studio was very creatively designed. It has several components , such as the fake central jail, temple. It also had several special lightings and musics to make the act or the drama look real. When we watch television the movie’s duration is about two to three hours, however it takes a lot of effort and time. The movie is taken shot by shot and so it takes very long…the crew members are very hardworking and focused on the shots even though we were there looking at them at work. I found the experience at the kollywood studio fun and exciting as we got to look at them making the movie, I wish to go there again!

Science Observatory (Birla Planetarium)

Hi everyone, we are from Grp5 .
It’s was like our Singapore science centre. the place was quite serene place. We went inside an omnimax theatre.it was very different compared to singapore’s omnimax. We also watch a 3D movie.for that movie we had to wear a 3D glass. It was quite fragile and we had to return the glasses back to them. The 3D effect was stunning. the graphics made the 3D realistic. some of the girls shouted at one part of the movie. Overall, the place was quite nice.

Hotel comparison
The first hotel we resided in was ambica empire hotel. It had the grandest greeting, they honored us with jasmine garlands served us drinks. We then proceeded to our hotel rooms. I was sharing my room with Nisha and kassandra. The hotel room was very nice and the toiletries we refilled everyday. As it only had two beds they even brought in another bed. We however refused the bed. Their service in taking the bed away was unsatisfactory. That however did not spoil our excitement as we had fun visiting our friends the in the other rooms and comparing. The hotel we stayed in, in kodaikanal was J.C Residency. Kodaikanal was a very, very, very cold place. We huddled up while sleeping. This hotel had a cottage system. As we did not want to walk in the cold we did not visit our friends rooms. But we did visit those who were in the same cottage. The cottages had nice names we stayed in fern cottage. Moreover the restaurant was called pine & petals. The last hotel we stayed in, in madurai was pandian hotel. As its our first day we have not had time to ourselves and thus no time to enjoy the fantastic rooms. As finally it seems to us we have the better room. I really believe that this night will be restful as we had trouble sleeping in the cold. We feel it’s a good way for a last night to be spent. In pandian hotel we also had an extra bed. Their service in removing the bed however was fast and satisfactory. We had a truly restful sleep and the fun was soon over when we had to check out and leave

Panchayat union middle school
Altogether, we’ve went to three schools. The last and most inspiring school yet was west union panchayat school. Mr anbu had already briefed us on the condition of the school and the general family background of most children there. They are extremely friendly and naturally cheerful. They took a lot of effort to make us feel at home. They had performances and we also sat in their classes. The most impactful time there was when the students were served food. As the food was being put on the plate, you could actually see the happiness and the actual glow on the face. After seeing this, I felt satisfied and contented. A certain sense of warmth had calmed my very sad heart. They also sang during the class and performance. While at SBOA, the students there were forced to sing but here, at this school, students are passionate about singing and actually have the talent too. When asked questions about the subject they are studying by the teacher, they are confident speakers and most of the time they get the ans right too. This shows that they have a large amount of potential in public speaking. Another touching scene there was after they got their food. they had gotten a meal which consisted of biryani rice, curd rice, vegetable and curry and this was a meal that was a once in a lifetime chance. Although they had the choice of just sitting there and enjoying the food, they got up, came over to us and said “talk to us please”. And this showed that even though they had really good food, they wanted to spend time with us, and we’re not even related to them. It was truly out of affection, and it was obvious. Even our own siblings don’t call us big sis\ bro, they call us by name. but these children, they are seeing us for the first time yet they are so affectionate. Its hard not to fall in love with them. If possible, not only me, but all of us would want to go back there to help. It was truly inspirational. Its really hard to put this touching experience in words because you have to be there to experience the impact.

EErie... Kodaikannal!!!

Hi folks,
From hot chennai.. now all of you are in Kodaikkannl.. if I am not wrong.. Totally different climate and landscape.. If there is no heavy rains in kodaikannl, you guys would surely enjoy the days there to the fullest.

ok... Kodaikannl is not a new place to you all.. as most of the Kollywood movies capture the places and scenery there.. Many will say that.. Kodaikaanal is rich in flora and fauna.. It has thickly wooded slopes, well laid out walking paths through picturesque locations, tumultuous waterfalls and steep rock outcrops. Apart from being a much sought after tourist resort, Kodai is also famous for its educational institutions which are globally renowned... BUT... Pls.. wait... there is something more interesting, exciting about this place ...in fact eerie about KODAIKANNAL..You may ask... WAT?... let me tell you.

There is a '' well -known'' place in kodai itself. It is known as the SUICIDE POINT.. Formerly it was known as Green Valley View.. but now its name has been changed after the suicides in recent years. It is about 5.5 km from the lake and very near to Golf club. It commands a beautiful view of the entire Vaigai Dam. As the valley is very deep and dangerous, this place is called "Suicide Point".

I am very sure.that this place is out of bounds to you ppl.. People who have accidently slipped into the valley.. barely have chance to survive.. For many years.. those tourists taking photos at that particular places.. have gone through weird experiences and strange photos too! The place is haunted.....hooooo.

Furthermore, the workers who are in charge of collecting the corpose from the forests which is near the valley.. suffer alot... Their personal experiences are so challenging and eerie..It was recently featured in Vijay Tv.. So locals avoid going to that area.. even though it is such a wonderful place.

Ok folks... i know that the halloween season is over... But just to create more anxiety ... i shared this info with you all.

And I am very sure that Kodai will give u guys and teachers the much needed relaxation and rejuvenation break after your stressful sch days. Wat else to come.!!!!!!!!!!.... beautiful sights to cool your eyes, cool breezes carrying the soothing fragrance of blooms and eucalyptus trees, and cool fabulous weather to freeze time and sumptuous food.

Truly Mother Nature will be at her very best, You folks will feel like breathing in a year’s supply of fresh oxygen to last us till next holiday !!!

Anyway Enjoy the days!!!!

Kollywood studio!!!!!!

Hey guys & gals,

Today is your 4th day in chennai.. till now you have gotten wonderful experiences travelling in and out of Chennai city.. Over crowded buses, motorists racing, yellow autos squeezng their way in and out of parked vehicles, unexpected rain are some of things that you are surprised to see...

But the most exciting thing you all gonna see today is kollywood movie studio. I am not sure which studio you all would be going. There are couple of studios where the money making brains work! If you are lucky enough, you may get to see ur drama artistes, directors, or movie stars!!! Inside a movie studio, editing, re recording music houses and drama sets are built. So from singers to stars... you can see them rushing from one buiding to another building in a studio itself..

If you got to see any foreign imported cars sailing into the studio.. u got the lucky charm.. that means some star is arriving into the studio. Some places inside the studio may look familiar to you because you might have seen them in songs or stunt sequences in movies.

Anyone aspire to be a film maker or want to own a production house.. this is your golden opportunity, Normally local people are not allowed into all premises except the tourists and the ppl working there.

So, get ready your autograph books... like what Mr Anbu said in meetings... No taking off shirts in excitement !!!!!!!!!!! ok... enjoy kids...

bye

Day 3 Photos

Some Day 3 photos: School visit at SBOA... you may read our students' post on their take about the school visit...i must say that i was extremely amazed by the various talents of the students.

3day

Helloo today is the 3rd day of our india trip. Today we had our first school vist to SBOA higher secondary school. We had a talk by the principle. then we proceeded to sit in their tamil class. It was a real diffrent experience, and I admit i was unable to understand half of what the teacher said. There was a lot of diffrence in the way the lesson was conducted. One obvious comparison was that we used more technology in our classroom then us. After that we were treated to a dance and song performance by the students. From interaction with them I learned that they were told to dance impromptu. That shocked me as I know for sure our students would complain and refuse to perform. So after the tiring day i'm in the comfort of my bed typing this.

what is so great about SBOA school????

Hi guys& gals,

Today is your day to step into one of the most well known schools in India.. they have branch schools all over India. Just to share some facts with u all... This school campus itself resembles our spore schools.. SBOA is well known for its basketball... They have been state- level champions for years... Like our spore schools, SBOA also place alot of emphasis on CCAs besides Aacdemics.. Sometimes... too much pressure is placed on the kids.. sorry.. to say.. this is my personal opinion... But their future has strong foundation which paves way for their success. Getting admission in SBOA is really tough..Parents tend to queue up overnight to get a seat for their kids.. hahah sometimes the queue is longer than our queue for 1 dollar- petrol promotion.Fees are also expensive... ( consider the facilties in campus)..

Their participation in cultural aspects is also gd.. Recently, kids from SBOA got Young film maker award for their documnetary or short film.. Like our polytechinc comrades... they are also exposed to multi media stuff at early age itself..

So I am really happy for you all.You are able to experience and meet such ambitiuous kids and environment.. thanks to teachers... and GEL.. In person, you all get to see many things too.. enjoy...

The world is getting more competitive and.. we also work hard and motivate ourselves..to succeed one day...

send in more posts , kids...take care. bye.

Day,2 group 4

Hello! group 4 here yah. today is day 2 of our trip here in india :D we have had so much fun so far and we are excited about the memories we will bring back to s'pore. Today after breakfast we went to Dakshin Chithra. it was a true eye opener for all of us. we managed to get in touch with our roots. the place was mainly about how our grand-parents, or even our current relatives here, live in india. different castes had different sorts of houses which were unique in their own way. since it was a culture-shock for us, it has reminded us not to lose our culture because it is so rich in history. there were also demos for us such as sarees being made and glass being 'blown'. we were astonished and impressed with the locals' skills of survival because they were so innovative with the things they made. although we didnt buy anything from , we truly praise them for their talents. this experience has reminded us that we too have talents that we do not use/realise.

We also went to MAHABALIPURAM. It was a tourist attraction in india and many foreigners were there at the place and they were all astonished by the amazing sculptures which resembles indian cultures and traditions. The place was also packed with many indian locals selling thier handmade products (souveniers) to the buzzing crowd . -.-
We also saw "krishnan's Butter Ball". It was a big rock on a slope...with a little support from its base. This amazed us as it had very little support and it had been standing there for thousands of years. Lastly tomorrow we are going to a school and we look forward to it, so we have actual facts to compare.

today is the second day of our trip(:
we went to dakshin chithra and mahabalipuram.
in dakshin chitra......
they displayed the diff. state of houses in each part of the country. it was like a mini south india. we saw a person who was specialised in glass blowing. it seemed easy but i was difficult.the guy had an experience of 25yrs.we also learned of how saris where made.It was serioud=sly confusing and hard but the guy managed to do like a pro.He had many confidence in him.

Next was the most exciting and incredible sights of all.We saw different sculptures made by our ancestors aat the same time we also saw many poor people begging for mmoney.it was heartbreaking but we still learnt how we should appreciate what we have.
And lastly there was the BUTTERBALL.it was a rather huge rock standing on top of a cliff supported by a small surface area.It was such a amazing sight.IN conclusion,we learnt that we have a rich diversity of cultures and we should continue to maintain our culture for thr future generations.our forefathers used sculptures and drawings to express their feeling and thoughts. This is a good takeaway for us.We are proud to be INDIANS.From group 5:)Cheers

Spencer Plaza!!!!!

Spencer Mall, Spencers Plaza in Chennai, Shops at Spencer Plaza Chennai : Famous India

The largest, oldest and the most Spacious Mall of Chennai is called the Spencer Mall Of Chennai. Well..it is also known by the locals as the New within the Old, it has all the charms for a Smart Shopper. It is one of most popular malls of Chennai where you get to see all movie and TV stars.

It looks a bit clumsy for those who are habitual to the new grown breed of Shopping Malls, but it has the charm of being one of the oldest malls of Chennai with the latest brands under its shield. I hope you guys enjoyed well in Spencer plaza with your purchases... Did you all try the Indian version of KFC... the chicken seem spicy and hot....and the whole KFC concept will be different in India . You all will realise it... You can eat rice with chicken curry in KFC outlet!!!!

I will just share my personal experience in Spencer... On weekends. the whole place is packed like sardine tins... I used to go there with a group of friends... during my 3 yrs course in Chennai. Mostly, couples dominate the places.. and if you sit alone on the benches, you would get rude stares from the couples... I think for them, benches are their territory...hahaha and once, I met actress Lakshmi Rai in the mall.. when I was doing usual'' window shopping'' with a couple of friends.

She was wearing huge sunglasses and the crowd started to swell.. i wanted to get an autograph.. but action impossible.. So with disappointed faces all of us went back home in auto...

If you all go to LIFESTYLE.. You can see all branded clothes & accessories... all this cater only to the upper class of the society... may be 5 % of the population in Chennai.. whereas Most of Chennaities are still in middle income families . So Spencer plaza clothes are regareded as luxury goods to them. This is one of the inequalities in india. As young adults, you guys must know both sides of coin too. So I am just adding you with some information. Throughout the trip, You would get to see the life in world....Enjoy...

One more day...

Hi there everyone...
Hope all of you are well and fine and prepared for the trip tmr...it is definitely going to be an exclusive experience i am sure. We have only seen each other in classrooms and school and now we are all going to be together for one week and that sounds really fun. (i think i am going to miss some of our darling friends especially from the sec 3 class who are not able to join us: nusaiba, aravind and ridhwan...wished they came along.nvm) Hope we all can understand each other better through this trip and make this experience a very memorable one. You will be staying in the rooms with friends of your choice as mentioned during the briefing; but bear in mind that things can really get different when you share rooms. You will find out 'more' about ur friends. Trust me! haha...but whatever it is, just remember that this trip aims to build positive bonds between everyone. So patience and giving in will go a long way in making this trip a fruitful one.
A special warning to Gals:
errrmmm...u know wat...things can really get slightly messy and out of hand when gals get together (like u know the drama in america's next top model)...haha...so beware! (ok ok i can see ur expressions when reading this) am not stereotyping la but just cautioning u so that u can anticipate better...so hope u can settle any issues at ur level...but of course teachers are always there for ur rescue.

So ya coming back to the focus of trip...i seriously havent start packing. anyways this is my first overseas trip WITH STUDENTS!. haha...i think it is going to be an unique experience...

So are you ready for the adventour? lets countdown the hours...wonder if i can sleep tonight.

Alrite i am also going to post some of the photos taken in the past few weeks during the briefings conducted and not forgetting our flu vaccination experience...do u all want to see Mr Anbu's exclusive flu jab photos????haha...then keep sending in ur posts for the blog and look out for more updates.
I need to run now...will catch up again.

Greetings to all,

I am really happy and elated to see this trip materialising. There has been alot of hardwork and planning done for this trip so that students partaking in this learning journey will truly benefit.

I read some of your posts and please be assured that the trip will be enjoyable and memorable. No worries about the food as the hotels we are staying, provides international spread apart from Indian dishes. So, you can have the best of both worlds. Try thosai with jam!!!!!!!!

I would like to thank Ms.Rabitha for coming up with this wonderful blog and Mdm.Sheela and Ms.Kalaivani for their tireless work. Thank you to Mr.Leong and Mr.Mannan for helping us to materialise this trip into reality!

Guys and Gals - keep your posts coming as this will definitely generate more flavour to the trip.

Introduction

This group consists of Poorathy, Nisha, Yoges, Saha and me, Kassandra (: we are all from e5, however we from different levels.

We are going to INDIA! and we are excited :D

We are so excited because:
this will be the first time on the plane with my friends! it will be a memorable experience for all of us, i believe. im also excited because this will be a chance for the three different levels (1, 2, and 3) to mingle and get to each other better. to me, the other levels seem nice so i am open to new friendships :D finally , i am also excited because i now have an opportunity to get in touch with my roots and culture from my ancestral country. it would definitely be fun to imagine what it would be like if i wasnt born here in singapore.

however, i am also very worried about:
the food! i am so used to eating fast food almost everyday, i actually have to admit that i havent eaten a traditional meal for quite some time. and now i have to eat a very traditional meal in india. i truly hope that i do not embarrass myself there. but i guess my worries do not have much of a base because our food is all monitored by our teachers. another thing i worry about is getting sick! i dont want to get sick on my one and only trip to india with my friends! the is a once in a lifetime chance and if i get sick, that would just be plain sad. and pitiful. last but not least, i hope i can occupy myself with enough things so i do not get homesick. i will defintely miss my family so i hope i have enough fun so i do not brood over them.

I am really excited to go to India as i would be able to have seven days of my own with my friends and teachers. I am really looking foward to all the activities that we are going to do and the places that we are going to visit. I think that this trip will be the best way for us to learn about life in india and how their culture varies from ours.

Pre-trip Activities
Get into groups of about 3-4 friends (teachers can decide on the size of each group)
Your 1st post should be on an ‘Introduction’. Write about who is in the group, where you are from, what your group hopes to learn, see and experience during this time overseas. Group photos would be good.
Follow up on the 1st post with your reflections on the pre trip briefing conducted by your teachers. When possible, include photos.

During the Trip
Instead of the daily reflection, daily blog posts about the day’s activities should be posted. If there is no internet connection, please have your reflections done, saved as a Word document. When internet connection is available, post the reflections online. This will serve like an online diary for your group.

Post trip Activities
Blog about what was being done after the trip, with photos as well. Use this blog as a communication channel between your friends after the trip.
